The Pays de la Sagouine is an immersive cultural site in the heart of New Brunswick, dedicated to Antonine Maillet's world. Every summer, it hosts performances, guided tours, and activities that bring Acadian culture to life in a lively and memorable way.

Project Goals

This redesign aimed to modernize the Pays de la Sagouine's brand image and digital experience to support its evolution. It enhances the presentation of its rich programming, highlights its strong cultural identity, and optimizes navigation, thereby increasing its reach.

  • Modernize the organization's digital brand image
  • Celebrate Acadian culture in a contemporary way
  • Revamp the overall appearance to make the site more current and visually striking
  • Provide visitors with a smoother, more intuitive navigation experience
  • Improve how to present a complex schedule that includes recurring events, occasional activities, and various content types

Implemented Solutions

Every decision, whether visual or functional, was made to serve both the user and reflect the essence of the place. Here are the main guidelines that guided the redesign.

Acadian Cultural Identity

The clean, contemporary design highlights Acadian pride without caricature. Iconic characters from Antonine Maillet are incorporated as cut-outs, accompanied by biographies of the characters and their performers, creating a strong narrative connection even before the first visit. A lexicon of the Acadian language, with research and filters, enriches the cultural exploration.

Visual Experience

Photography plays a central and immersive role throughout the site. The full-width images capture the energy and atmosphere of the events, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the experience even before arriving.

Programming and Navigation

The schedule is presented as an interactive, filterable grid (including access, evening events, and additional fees), with a preview of upcoming dates and one-click ticket purchasing. A visual map of the site, filterable by activity type, helps visitors plan their visit. Thematic routes guide visitors based on their profile (families, groups of friends, etc.). The information architecture has been completely restructured for intuitive navigation.

Results

The new website now offers a modern, immersive experience deeply rooted in Acadian identity. Simplified navigation, interactive programming, and planning tools make it easier and more engaging to discover the rich offerings, inspiring visitors to experience them firsthand.
