The Communauté Rurale de Beausoleil brings together the Acadian communities of Cocagne, Grande-Digue, Notre-Dame de Kent, and Shediac Bridge / Shediac River. These regions have rich histories and traditions.
Project Goals
Communauté Rurale de Beausoleil was created following a local governance reform, which required developing a new website. The main mandate was to design a site capable of effectively serving the citizens of the four united Acadian communities by improving access to information and communication with the local administration.
- Facilitate navigation to allow users to find information easily and quickly;
- Make the site accessible to everyone, including seniors and people with disabilities;
- Easily find important and popular information such as events, public notices, and services;
- Improve overall communication with citizens.
Implemented Solutions
Faced with the unique challenges of a newly formed rural community, our team developed customized strategies that combine ease of use with inclusion. Our approach prioritized democratic access to municipal information while creating an environment that strengthened ties with the community.
Intuitive Structure and Prioritized Content
We designed a content structure and intuitive navigation allowing users to quickly find the most sought-after information. Services are now available right from the homepage, offering immediate access to essential resources.
Accessible and Inclusive Design
The site has been optimized to be fully accessible to seniors and people with disabilities. Users can enlarge text without losing information or functionality, and calls to action are clearly identified to facilitate orientation.
Smart Filtering for Events and Public Notices
Pages dedicated to events and public notices offer filtering options to facilitate information searching. They also provide quick access and a preview of news directly from the homepage.
Interactive Map of Communities
An interactive map has been integrated to visualize facilities and locations across the four communities, strengthening the sense of belonging and understanding of the territory.
Results
The new site perfectly embodies the Rural Community of Beausoleil's identity while meeting its citizens' practical needs. Thanks to its accessible interface and intuitive structure, it now constitutes an effective communication tool that facilitates citizen engagement and values the Acadian heritage of these communities. The platform serves as a bridge between the local administration and residents, actively contributing to strengthening the community spirit in this region rich in history.
